Community event, “Parenting Strategies for Our Kids Mental Well-Being” held at Uxbridge Public School was a POSITIVELY fun evening.
While parents listened to DDSB mental health lead, Allison Potts and Linda Warren, self regulation consultant, talk about mental wellness, their kids had fun interacting and learning practical mental well-being skills.
Cam’s Kids Ambassadors engaged with over 30 youth, encouraging them to discover positive self-talk by writing a positive message to themselves on a sticky note, which was then attached to a life-size drawing of a student labelled, “I am / Je suis…”
Why are positive affirmations so important during our youth?
Research has shown that we all learn our belief systems as young children. It is these beliefs that provide the foundation upon which we reflect back on for our entire lives. By supporting and encouraging children (& ourselves) to develop a positive belief system we can help set the stage for a positive attitude for life. This also translates into confidence and good self-esteem. And that translates into wonderful things for everyone!
Thanks to all ambassadors involved for helping make a difference. Your caring and fun-loving spirit was POSITIVELY delightful!
