Cam's Kids Partners with 23 Universities and Colleges For Orientation 2018
Cam's Kids Partners with 23 Universities and Colleges For Orientation 2018
At the beginning of September, 40,000 pamphlets were distributed into orientation kits for first year students. This is thanks to the 23 universities and colleges across Canada who have partnered with Cam’s Kids to help in the foundation’s mission of “Supporting Young People Struggling with Anxiety”.

For many, September involves starting a new academic year. While returning to school can be exciting, the stress of changing schools, having new teachers, or changing your daily routine can overpower positive feelings; leaving behind anxiety in its place. When this change in routine involves embarking on your first year of post-secondary education, these feelings can be amplified. To help, the Cam’s Kids Foundation has set out once again, to help relieve some of the anxiety that often comes along with the first week of university or college.

We are extremely pleased to announce that this distribution number has doubled since 2017 and will reach even more student’s in need of support. Moreover, the foundation’s ambassador program has expanded exponentially, with nearly 200 passionate students across Canada doing their part to support those with anxiety.

Look for our information card in your orientation kit for a chance to win 1 of 3 iPhone X’s, generously donated by Telus! Simply visit www.CamsKids.com, enter the contest code with a mindful tip for managing anxiety. This contest encourages students to check out the many tips and tools available to help manage anxiety.

Please pay special attention to the section on the back of the pamphlets, entitled “My CAM Contact”. Cam’s Kids understands how vital it is to have a support system, not only during orientation week, but for every day. We encourage students to identify someone in your life you can count on for support and trust; be it a friend, roommate, family or counsellor. We call these individuals “Care About Me” (CAM) contacts. Write their name and contact down on the pamphlet and hang it somewhere visible, like on your desk or wherever best suits your life. Be sure to let the individual know you would like to designate them as your CAM contact.

To personally connect with incoming students, Cam’s Kids Ambassadors set up booths at many of the partnering campuses. Keep your eye out for our friendly ambassadors on campus this week and throughout the semester to learn more about the many insightful resources available and our exciting initiatives.

Again, many thanks to Telus for their extremely kind donation and their continued support of the Cam’s Kids Foundation.

Good luck on the contest!

We wish everyone the best for a safe and successful school year.
