Every grade 10 student in Ontario takes a Civics and Careers course, promoting civic literacy and active citizenship. While there are endless possibilities when it comes to employment, understanding all that is available can be an impossible task for any 15-year-old. Even once you’re informed, deciding the career you may potentially spend the rest of your life doing can be an overwhelming hurdle to overcome.
At Cam’s Kids we feel that it is crucial to ensure every student believes it is possible to reach their full potential—we want every student to believe that no dream is too big or too small, and that if they work hard enough, their dream can become a reality.
With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce that Cam’s Kids has funded guest speaker and professional coach, Kerry Marchment to join this years’ Careers Class at Uxbridge Secondary School (USS). Kerry is certified through the International Coaches Federation and CTI (CPCC, ACC). She is an Uxbridge native, and is passionate about helping transform the lives of others and empowering them to be the best version of themselves. She too believes in how paramount it can be to instill these characteristics at a young age.
Kerry has designed two wellness workshops for our USS grade 10 students, focusing on setting dreams and discovering their inner power. The first workshop “Get Out of Our Head”, aims to help students deal with their inner voice and critic by exploring these fears and understanding what to do when they feel stuck. The second workshop “Big Dream”, will help students step outside their comfort zone, and into setting and achieving goals for their future.
Each workshop will be delivered to all semester 1 and 2 Careers classes. They will be 75 minutes (1 period) in length and will be spread out throughout the term. The workshops this semester will be held on Thursday October 11th and Thursday October 25th.
Thank you, Kerry and USS, for implementing these workshops, and understanding the value of empowering our student body.
