Cam's Kids University/College Virtual Orientation

Cam's Kids University/College Virtual Orientation
This year, things are likely going to look a little different for students and teachers. One very important thing has not changed - the need to ensure incoming students feel supported, and to show them that they are not alone.

This year, things are likely going to look a little different for students and teachers. Many classes have been moved online, face coverings are required while on campus, and in-person orientation week has been cancelled. Despite these changes, one very important thing has not changed - the need to ensure incoming students feel supported, and to show them that they are not alone.

Typically, orientation week (sometimes known as frosh week or welcome week) helps to ease students into the new school year, educating them on the resources available, as well as providing some stress relieving tips/activities to help with the transition. For most schools this year, in person orientation week has been cancelled. This however, has not stopped our incredible Ambassadors from taking things into their own hands.

Here are the activities our Ambassadors have lined up so far:

Monday Sept 7th @ 4:30pm - Cooking class (hosted by Laurentian Ambassadors)

Tues Sept 8th @9am - Yoga (hosted by Guelph Ambassadors)

Thurs Sept 10th @1pm - Clubs Fair (hosted by Trent Ambassadors)

Fri Sept 11th (all day) - Puppy Day (hosted by Dalhousie Ambassadors)

Thurs Oct 8th @ 6pm - Yoga (hosted by uOttawa Ambassadors)

Sat Oct 17th @ 7pm - Virtual Paint Night (hosted by Nipissing Ambassadors & Jadan Cohen) * No experience required. All you need is acrylic paint, canvas or paper/sketchbook, and paint brushes *

All activities will be available on our Instagram page and will be 100% free. Make sure you follow us on Instagram so you don't miss out!

These virtual events are just one example of how Cam's Kids is adapting our Ambassador program for the upcoming 2020/2021 school year. In fact, until classes can resume in person - all of our activities and initiatives will be held via our social media platforms. While we wish we could be there with everyone in person, we are thankful that social media allows us to stay connected with all young people, no matter where they are. Not to mention, students can now partake in actvities they may previously have been too apprehensive to try - knowing they can do so from the comfort and safety of their home.

Cam's Kids is also a part of several University and College apps, which educate students on who we are and the resources we have available, as well as informing them of the Ambassador team present on their campus.

If you are a student for the 2020/2021 school year, we encourage you to follow us on Instagram (@camskids_8) and Facebook (@camskids8) to stay connected on the various initiatives we have planned.
