This year, things are likely going to look a little different for students and teachers. Classes may be online, masks may need to be worn on campuses, and in person gatherings may be cancelled. Despite these changes, one very important thing has not changed - the need to ensure incoming students feel supported, and to show them that they are not alone.
Typically, orientation week (sometimes known as frosh week or welcome week) helps to ease students into the new school year, educating them on the resources available, as well as providing some stress relieving tips/activities to help with the transition. For most schools this year, orientation week has been cancelled. This however, has not stopped our incredible Ambassadors from taking things into their own hands.
Virtual yoga, zumba, self-care chats, paint night, anxiety coping strategies - these are just some of the fun activities our Ambassadors have lined up for the first few weeks of classes. All of which - will be available on our Instagram page and will be 100% free.
This is just one example of how Cam's Kids is adapting our Ambassador program for the upcoming 2020/2021 school year. In fact, until classes can resume in person - all of our activities and initiatives will be held via our social media platforms. While we wish we could be there with everyone in person, we are thankful that social media allows us to stay connected with all young people, no matter where they are. Not to mention, students can now partake in actvities they may previously have been too apprehensive to try - knowing they can do so from the comfort and safety of their home.
Cam's Kids is also a part of several University and College apps, which educate students on who we are and the resources we have available, as well as informing them of the Ambassador team present on their campus.
