The following three tools are some of my favourite ways to step out of fear and move into the present moment. Maybe you try one a day, maybe you try one a week!

Let’s retrain our brains!

1. Write it Down!

Write 3 pages in the morning before grabbing your phone or eating breakfast. This is for your eyes only, take note of how you feel before you begin.

Page one: Write your first thoughts down, even if they are silly or sad.

Page two: Write down all of your fears.

Page three: Write down a list of all the things you are grateful for.

2. At Least One Day of No Complaining!

This challenge is particularly good to see what repetitive thoughts come up throughout the day. Once we are aware of repetitive complaints, we can catch ourself and start thinking of alternatives that bring less fear/negatively based thoughts.

For example –

Notice: I “have” to work/do schooling from home
Swap with: I get to work/do schooling from home

3. Play!

Pick an activity to do where there is absolutely no outcome. Let yourself just BE in the moment.

Did you know that one of the fastest ways to move into a place of joy is by playing?

Pick something you love to do. Maybe it is painting, dancing, exploring in the forest or singing. Next, do that thing when you will have no interruptions or reasons to get self-conscious. A time where you can just be you. You can give yourself a time limit, or let it go for as long as you feel like it. Now, do that thing without a plan.

If it is painting, just see what happens when the brush (or maybe your hands) hits the canvas. Pick the colours you are drawn to rather then what you think would be the most pleasing to others.

If it's dancing, maybe you play the music as loud as you can and move in whatever way feels good.

If you are in the forest, maybe you pretend you are on a survival tv show or maybe you pretend to be a forest animal.

Find that thing that makes time disappear, and do that as often as you can. Your body and mind will thank you for it.
