It is common for post-secondary schools to provide a list of must-have items to bring with you for your first year. These are commonly things like household items, clothing, knick-knacks, etc. Below we provide our list of items not commonly suggested, but can positively ease your anxiety and relieving stress.

It is common for post-secondary schools to provide a list of must-have items to bring with you for your first year. These are commonly things like household items, clothing, knick-knacks, etc. Below we provide our list of items not commonly suggested, but can positively ease your anxiety and relieving stress.

  • Vitamins, supplements or medications you have been prescribed to take
  • Your favourite essential oils, roll-ons and diffuser
  • Yoga mat
  • Ear plugs and eye mask
  • Your favourite teas and mug
  • Non-toxic cleaners, dusters and dust pans to keep your room clean and organized
  • Duffle bag you can use for weekend trips home or to take to the gym
  • Pictures or mementos from home (tip: bring picture hangers/hooks that don’t damage your walls to avoid fines at the end of the year
  • Favourite blanket, stuffed animal and/or pillow
  • Doorstop so you can keep your bedroom door open when you want to be social
  • Large calendar or whiteboard calendar to keep organized
  • Notebooks – for both your classes and for personal journaling
  • Colouring or activity books
  • Your favourite healthy snacks to keep in your room
  • Any or all of the following to improve the air quality in your room: 
    • Himalayan Salt Lamp 
    • Flowers such as Snake Plants, Aloe Vera, Succulents and Orchids
    • Beeswax candles
