We are all human. We all feel pain. We all feel stress.

Life can feel like a roller coaster. Some days are exceptional, others are exceptionally difficult.  We are here to remind you that you can push through any obstacle that life throws at you!

So whether you feel:

  • overwhelmingly stressed or anxious
  • stretched thin with obligations
  • overcome with fear
  • self-doubt

…or anything in between, here are some helpful reminders of the strong and resilient individual that you are!

I am not the before. I am not the after. I am the now.

Too often we replay old stories in our heads and decide how we expect the future to play out. But the past is the past, and the present is now. If something did not go the way you wanted in the past, use that to drive you to do differently today. If you are living in fear of what’s to come in the future, bring yourself back to the present. Take a large deep breath in. Notice your exhale. Allow this rhythm of your breath to help calm your anxiety. Now remind yourself that you cannot control what’s already happened or what may lie ahead, but you can control what you do right now.

You are human. Not perfect.

Perfection does not exist. Holding yourself to such high standards can leave you feeling flawed or inadequate. Instead, focus on doing your best, given your current circumstances. What you consider “your best” will constantly evolve as the circumstances of your life evolve. Give it all you have to give today, and that’s enough.

Even if you “fail”, you will fail forward

At some point, we all “fail”. We set out to accomplish a certain task or achieve a particular outcome, and for whatever reason this doesn’t happen. It can be extremely disheartening when this happens. It is so important that we take this “failure” as an opportunity to grow, rather than to set you back. There is always a lesson to be learned in these types of situations – lessons that can prove invaluable for the future. Be gentle with yourself during these times.

Feelings are not facts

Just because that negative voice inside your head is telling you that you can’t do something, does NOT mean this is so. We often are our own biggest critic. You CAN do anything you set your mind to. Remind yourselves that you possess the skills and strength to move in the direction of your dreams. After all - you’ve made it this far!

Balance is key

Deadlines, responsibilities and life commitments will always be there. In order to accomplish these to the best of our ability, we ourselves need to be at our best. We cannot do this if we do not have anything left to give. This is why it is imperative that we mix in self-care. No this is not selfish. Yes, you have time. Yes, it is as important as that deadline.

Life can be tough sometimes, but so are you. You have what it takes to unleash your full potential. Let it shine!
